All Soul’s Day – The Rich Man and Lazarus

I noticed in my journal that today is All Soul’s Day.  I wasn’t sure what that was, so I googled it.  It is a day that others pray for the dead.  I am not sure why they pray for the dead because the Bible clearly says that once you die, you have made your choice. You cannot change where you are after you die and someone else cannot change it either.

I think of “The rich man and Lazarus” in the Bible. Luke 16:19-31  KJV

19: There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21: And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22: And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24: And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25: But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and like wise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou are tormented.

26: And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27: Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:

28: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29: Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30: And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31: And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Are you persuaded?

Jesus arose from the dead.  Today is the day of Salvation and to protect your soul from where the rich man ended up.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Commitment and Help Tool :)

When I started blogging, I had planned to post every day.  I found it is a hard thing to do and it takes a lot of discipline.  I did get 31 posts published so that was not bad, but it wasn’t every day.  Now, I just committed to writing every day in November!  I like a challenge so here goes!

Today as I was taking a walk with my husband, I was thinking about our Road Trip Auto Emergency Tool.  In a past post I wrote about how important this is to have in all of your vehicles.

I also wrote about using this as a Protection Tool when you are walking.

Today I thought of it as being a “Help Tool” if you were in your house and needed help from someone passing by.  The red flashing beacon could be placed in a window that someone driving by would see and most likely someone would stop to investigate.

I think this came to my mind because there was and elderly couple in our area that were victims of a crime. I feel so bad for them and think of them often. They were both in their 80s, and had lived there for over 50 years. The husband was shot and killed and the wife was hurt very badly with a knife.  The wife had to lay in their house with her husband who had passed away from Friday until Sunday. How horrible that must have been for her.  I think I read that she tried to make a sign to put in the window but couldn’t.  I thought of how much easier it would be if our Road Trip was within reach, it is a FLASHING SIGN!

I know I have one in each of our vehicles and will now have one in our house in a place within easy reach of the floor.  Most of the time, when someone is in trouble they cannot stand up.  One note, as I wrote in another post it is also a fun toy for young boys! I put a rubber band around the bottom where the seat belt cutter is.  The space is really small and I doubt they could get a finger in there, but a rubber band serves well to make a guard for the blade.

Road Trip +

My grandson, Chase was leaving my house and asked if I was coming to his house.  I said not until tomorrow.  He is 3 years old.  He then asked me if he could take my flashlight home with him! 🙂  He loves our Road Trip Emergency Auto Tool!  This is Great to carry in your car as I wrote in another post.  But I am finding lots of other uses for it as well!

As they were leaving, I was waving to them out the window.  My daughter told me later that he was saying “Bye Grandma! I have your flashlight!”

I wrote in another blog post about this also being great as a Self Defense tool when walking.

Now I am finding that little boys love it.  The red flashing light and alarm make it especially interesting.  He can run around acting like he is on his way to a fire!  The flashlight is very captive for him to shine and find things.  He likes me to hide, so he can find me with his/my light.  I put a rubber band around the part that is a seat belt cutter.  I don’t think his fingers could fit in the slot where the blade is, but I didn’t want to take any chances.  The rubber band works very well to guard the blade.  I guess I know what I will be getting Chase for Christmas!  He can play with it, but who knows, it could just end up protect him too!

Stay Safe and Stunningly Protected!

Safety Tips written by a Cop continued and conclusion

I started posting Safety Tips by a Cop on October 16th.  If you missed the ones before today’s posting, all you need to do is click on previous up on the right hand side and it will take you to the posts.  I have included 2 tips per day.  Today is the last two…

Today’s Tips:

9.  Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.. The police told her ‘Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door..’ The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, ‘We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.’ He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby’s cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby.. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby’s cries outside their doors when they’re home alone at night.

Wow! This one gives me chills!  This is when I would be happy I had my Striking Distance hanging right by the door, just in case!  It wouldn’t be hanging there long after I talked to the police, it would be in my hand until they arrived!

10. Water scam!  If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full blast so that you will go out to investigate and then attack.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbors!

Please pass this on This should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on America ‘s Most Wanted when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana I’d like you to forward this to all the women you know.. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well. Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it’s better to be safe than sorry.. Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or a loved one’s life.

I would like to give credit to this Cop that wrote these tips, but I don’t find his name.  It just says: Written by a Cop for our own safety.  We thank him for his great tips to keep us Safe and Stunningly Protected! 🙂

Safety Tips written by a COP continued….

I started posting Safety Tips by a Cop on October 16th.  If you missed the ones before today’s posting, all you need to do is click on previous up on the right hand side and it will take you to the posts.  I have included 2 tips per day.  Only 2 more to go after today.

Today’s Tips:

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control,  ALWAYS RUN!  The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

Now remember, this is a cop writing these safety tips!  I am sure that he knows first hand the result of someone getting shot verses someone surrendering!  Don’t surrender!

8. As women are always trying to be sympathetic:  STOP It may get you raped, or killed.  Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked ‘for help’ into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Today is Sunday, I normally try to write something on Sunday concerning “Soul Protection”.  The following verses are the steps to Soul Protection! 🙂  That is really more important than body protection.  It is being prepared for eternity!

The Holy Bible:  Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Acts 17:30 and Romans 10:9.

A simple way to ask Christ into your heart is to pray something like this:  “Lord Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner.  I turn from my sin, and now ask you to be my personal Saviour and Lord.”

As I was writing the verses above, it made me think how nice it is that the Bible was designed in a way that we can find any verse we are looking for.  The Bible is truly an amazing book inspired by our AWESOME GOD! 🙂

Thank you for reading my blog!

Safety Tips Written by a Cop Continued…

I started these Safety Tips by a Cop on October 16th.  If you missed it, all you need to do is click on previous up on the right hand side and it will take you to the posts for Tip #s 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Tips for Today:

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car,  at the passenger side floorand in the back seat.

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. ( And better paranoid than dead.)

I also posted about this very subject in an earlier post.

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

If you are in a situation that you HAVE to take a stairwell, I hope you have one of our Personal Protection products with you!

Safety Tips written by a Cop continued….

I started this yesterday.  If you missed it, all you need to do is click on previous up on the right hand side and it will take you to yesterdays post which was Tip #s 1 & 2.

Tips for Today:

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy..  The driver won’t see you, but everybody else will.  This has saved lives.

Again, our Sock it to Me Tool is a good thing to have hidden in your trunk as well as in your pocket or purse.  It would make it easier to knock out the tail lights! And attack your attacker if he decides to open the trunk again.

Sock it to me Kubotan

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit

(doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS!)

The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go.

AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE..  If someone is in the car with a gun to your head

DO NOT DRIVE OFF, Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF!

Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the carYour Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and runIt is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

If you were using your LED “flashlight” (stun gun) as you should be, you would have checked in the back seat on the floor and around your car before you got in….. Just sayin….. 🙂
